It's like buying a Subaru for drifting or an Aston Martin for a muted exhaust note. Like a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , they just don't make a wee bit of sense.
Of course, an RR drivetrain has never really been a precept at Porsche. Mid-engined cars litter their model hisotry, cars like the 914 and 550.
After many years of putting the horse behind the carriage, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! (pictured above). It was the product of Porsche no longer being a family-run company. Overnight management was replaced with corporate secularists focused on profit only.

It funny how often this happens with companies like Porsche. Once the hired guns take over, they throw out all the corporate heritage that makes their company appealing, only to go scrambling to recapture years later.
They started making 4 and 8-cylinder luxury coupes with engines in the front. Not because it was the Porsche thing to do, but because they wanted to win market share from the Mercedes and BMWs of the world.
I'm not saying the 924 and 928 are bad cars, though. They performed the rare feat of adding a new silhouette to the Porsche lineup. Ferry Porsche also felt they were better than the 911 of the same years, and thought they were the future of Porsche.
So what do you think? Was the 924 and 928 the ultimate malaise era move, or a refreshing departure?

Excuse me sir, you have a picture of a white 944 cab, and yet you neglect to mention the 944??
Just no. I am disappoint and disapprove sir. I'd say that it contributes to this "malaise period" as much as the 924 and 928.

My 924 has 85hp. So I'd say it probably is malaise.

I had a guy making fun of me for driving a "slow ass car" (he drives a Civic). I just responded with "you have no idea".

Malaise, except for the 928, which looked at least like someone thought about it ...

I declare racecar exception! It's a bit like refuting a Camry's boringness with:
?w=900

There is a difference. One is based on the actual car, and the other has the face of the actual car.

it's weird, I never ever hear people talking about the 968 when talking about FR Porches. I had a friend that had one in college. It was a good little car. Anyone want to weigh in about the 968?

3.0L 4 cylinder making 236hp, with an unusual 928-like front end and the ultimate expression of the front engine water-cooled Porsche that started with the 924?
Freaking amazing! I want one.
